S - Like 4:1 Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River. He was led by the Spirit in the wilderness...14 Then Jesus returned to Galilee, filled with the Holy Spirit’s power. Reports about him spread quickly through the whole region.
O - Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After the 40 days in the wilderness, Jesus returned FILLED with the Holy Spirit's power. The significance to Jesus returning from the wilderness with the Holy Spirit's power is that means that He must not have had this power before going to the wilderness and being tempted. Jesus gained even more power when He was filled with the Holy Spirit's power.
A - When I was baptized in the Holy Spirit, I too gained the Holy Spirit's power. This doesn't mean that I am able to do everything that Jesus was able to do as He was perfect, but it does mean that I am able to more than I think many times. Jesus himself said just before He ascended into heaven that He was leaving but that He would send the Holy Spirit to them and that they would do even greater things than He did. Because I'm a child of God, as well as my wife and children, I need to expect and look for great and miracluous things to happen in my life and through my hands/actions. The reason why these things may not happen more frequently is because of the way I talk and expect things to turn out.
P - God, I praise you and thank you this morning for the gift of the Holy Spirit. I ask for your forgiveness when I do not fully expect great and wonderful things to happen in my life. This lack of belief and expectation is a sin as I have been given the most wonderful gift from you and have squandered it at time. I turn from this lack of belief and ask for your forgiveness. Help me to speak in a way that my family also expects these things to happen and strengthens their faith as well. I praise you today! You are amazing! Bless my family and me today.
