S - 1 Kings 18:36...“O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,[e] prove today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant. Prove that I have done all this at your command. 37 O Lord, answer me! Answer me so these people will know that you, O Lord, are God and that you have brought them back to yourself.”
O - Elijah had called all the people of Israel and all the prophets of Baal to the mountain and was going to prove who the living God really was. After the Baal prophets failed miserably, Elijah prepared his alter and prayed this prayer. The prayer wasn't to glorify himself or what he went through, but instead to prove that God was real and that Elijah was speaking for Him.
A - Elijah was called to be a prophet of God and because of this he faced trials. I too have been called to something and I would be a fool to think there are going to be no trials in this calling. However, when I pray, I need to pray a different prayer than that God blesses me for my sake. Instead, like Elijah, I need to pray that I be blessed so that those around me and those that I work with know that God gave this and to bring people to His presence.
P - God, I worship you this morning and realize your awesome power and authority. I pray that you be with me and my family and that you bless our actions to give you honor and glory and to show others around us that you are the one and only God. I pray that you give me strength and courage to go through the struggles so that you may receive all the praise and honor. Bless my family and I and protect and heal us.
